Our Founding Members :

Employee Provident Fund (EPF)

A MSWG founding member since 2000. EPF was established in 1951 to manage Malaysia’s mandatory national pension system. In 2004, EPF managed investments of RM227billion (USD60billion). 20% of these investments were made in the Malaysian equity market. In 2003, EPF set up its own in-house unit to research and supervise the corporate governance of its investments.

“The EPF had played an important role in the formation of the Minority Shareholders Watchdog Body. The main objective of the Body is to enhance shareholders activism by promoting best practices amongst listed entities in the KLSE. As a pioneer of the Minority Shareholders Watchdog Body, it is only befitting that the Board (ie, of EPF) itself adheres to the best practices enshrined in the code.”

Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB)

A MSWG founding member since 2000. PNB was established in 1978 as an instrument of the Government’s New Economic Policy to promote share ownership in the corporate sector among the Bumiputera and also develop opportunities for suitable Bumiputera candidates to participate in the creation and management of wealth. As at the end of 2003, PNB managed over RM15billion (that is about two-third of) its investment in public and private equity in Malaysia.

Armed Forces Fund (AFF)

A MSWG founding member since 2000. Through compulsory contributions, the Armed Forces Fund provides retirement and other benefits to members of the Armed Forces.

Lembaga Tabung Haji (LTH)

A MSWG founding member since 2000. Lembaga Tabung Haji (The Pilgrimage Fund) was established in 1969. The Fund’s objectives are:

  • To enable Muslims to save gradually to support their expenditure during pilgrimage and for other beneficial purposes.
  • To enable Muslims to have active and effective participations in investment activities permissible in Islam through their savings.
  • To protect, safeguard interests and ensures welfare of pilgrims during pilgrimage by providing various facilities and services.

Social Security Organisation (SOCSO)

A MSWG founding member since 2000. SOCSO was established to ensure and guarantee the timely and adequate provision of benefits in a socially just manner and to promote occupational health and safety.
